Employee Cars - How Far Can You Go?

When most people think about employee cars, letting the imagination run wild isn't the natural response. There's responsibility - the real business need to purchase the most affordable, most efficient, safest cars on the road - no thrills, no extras, no exceptions. But today's Employee Mobility Programs are helping all kinds of companies change that image, establishing programs allowing for an almost limitless automobile selection.

How far will you take your employee cars?

Employee cars are owned by the business and used by employees expressly for business reasons - there might be some leeway but business is the point. Employee cars on the other hand are the property of the individual employee, paid in large part by the company for business use. Certain EMPs allow any specific driver to apply their reimbursement to the vehicle of their choice, just so long as that vehicle falls within the guidelines set forth by the employer.

So - as an employer you could theoretically choose to enforce no guidelines, reimbursing employee cars and allowing your your employees to purchase whatever car they desire. Programs allowing this will offer strict monitoring of driving habits and use, and will offer reimbursements at a constant level throughout the company. So its up to the employee to choose the employee car that best suits them - while the employer pays a single flat rate for all employees no matter what they drive.
