Employee Car - Still Your Problem
An employee car is technically the property of the employee - but that doesn't mean the company sponsoring the car isn't liable. If anything should go wrong while that car is in use for business purposes, there had to be a program in place to insure the driver as well as the car itself. There is still a need for Employee Mobility Programs.
Keep an eye on that employee car
In fact, there is probably a greater need for professional Employee Mobility Programs when the employees are in actual ownership of the car. Reimbursements are key, and with a quality EMP you can:
- Effectively monitor business and personal use and repay only those miles spend on business reasons.
- Track the safety and efficiency habits of the individual driver (if they run through a car every three years, you will know something is wrong).
- Lower insurance rates drastically through driver training and safety compliance.
There is no way of accurately tracking the motions of all the employee cars in a specific business all the time - unless you have an established way of doing it. So find the professionals who make it their business to track the efficiency of your mobile business practices - they will tell you which employee car is on the right road, and which is off course and in need of a swift rescue.
And remember - there is a difference between an employee and a company car. Know those differences and find an EMP wiling to help you make the right decisions for your mobile business endeavors.
